From mustard seeds and sequins to lenticular prints and Flash animation, nine contemporary women artists have methodically explored the use of unique materials to create some truly diversified art in one exhibition, Nine – Her Magic Square. The artists – Anjum Singh, Chila Kumari Burman, Debasree Das, Farida Batool, Jenny Bhatt, Malavika Mandal Andrew, Niyeti Chadha, Prajakta Potnis and Smriti Dixit – have embedded their recognisable individual experiences in their artwork and it doesn’t take long to decipher the message beyond the visual. Curated by Veeranganakumari Solanki, the colourful exhibits are on display at The Viewing Room, Mumbai till November 20.
