High fashion and delicious food sum up award-winning TV chef, food writer and stylist Ravinder Bhogal’s daily itinerary

She is an award-winning UK TV chef, food writer and stylist. Ravinder Bhogal shone in the spotlight when Gordon Ramsay named her, the new ‘Fanny Craddock’, on his television show The F Word. Yet for this pretty damsel of Indian origin, life in the UK has been one of stardom and good food ever since her debut book Cook in Boots won the Gourmand World Cookbook Award for the UK’s Best First Cookbook and was awarded the first runners-up prize of the World’s Best First Cookbook at the Paris Cookbook Fair in February. If that wasn’t enough for the high-heeled beauty, BBC programme Desi DNA had its highest viewing figures when Ravinder presented a two-part show entitled The Great British Curry Trail. The show followed her travelling across the country to find out how Britain fell in love with Indian food. Living in South East London, she recollects, “There was never a real transition as I had always been both an ardent fashion fan and a foodie, but cooking for Gordon Ramsay and being chosen as the winner of the competition was a pretty massive compliment, but it is complimentary enough when my guests leave empty plates. I adore people who really enjoy their food without inhibitions – it’s very sexy.” But food is not just all that is on her plate; the fashionista in her says, “Shoes are my absolute weakness. Bleeding-soled Louboutins, Charlotte Olympia and Nicholas Kirkwood's architectural heels give me a literal high. I adore vintage fashion mixed with high street and designer labels too – everything from Alexander Wang to Isabel Marant and Sonia Rykiel.”
