Breguet’s time-keepers, inspired by a sense of history, are infused with contemporary style, grace and a precision for detail
The watch that draws subtle inspiration from the collection and is indeed complementary to it is a glowing magical interpretation of the Reine de Naples design. In white gold, its graceful egg-shaped case is embellished by a dainty lace pattern of shimmering diamonds that come alive in a play of light. The opulent red ruby commands attention and is complemented by a rich red satin strap. The Joaillerie Marie Antoinette Dentelle, in 18-carat white gold, is paved with 363 TW/IF-VVS diamonds (9.96 cts). It is richly set with a 1.54 carat Burmese ruby. The buckle in white gold paved with diamonds and an 18-carat silvered gold dial with a mother-of-pearl overlay add to its regal splendour. The Breguet Arabic numerals are perfect indicators on the time-keeper. A watch to wear and show, any time!
Over the years, the line has been re-invented to come up with more contemporary, chic and sporty designs. The year 2007 saw the launch of the first Tourbillon-equipped chronograph with silicon escapement. This year witnesses a path-breaking new design: the Marine Royale alarm watch, water-resistant to 30 bar (300 m). Breguet’s Marine Royale 5847 comes with an alarm device that will woo the hearts of both amateur divers and aficionados of exceptional complications. Interestingly and often proved, sound travels better and faster through water than air, thus enhancing the sound and clarity of the alarm. Pragmatism considered, the alarm-setting crown and on-off push-piece in gold, is enveloped in rubber thus making for easier handling and for a sporty feel. The time-keeper has the usual features that a diver expects, not least amongst which are a one-way rotating bezel and luminous markers. And if you are diving through murky waters, there is no cause for worry – for the minute-markers hand along with the hour hand are coated with white luminous superluminova while the alarm markers glow blue. Breguet’s Marine Royale 5847 is available in two versions: white or pink gold cases, with an 18 kt gold dial with black rhodium finish, manually engine-turned with the collection’s dedicated wave pattern. Both watches you’d be proud to sport, in land or underwater! Subscribe to Verve Magazine or buy the Verve issue on stands now! |
