Hometown: Delhi.

Best known as: Lysander in Tim Supple’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream; fan-favourite Mikhail in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Kaminey.

On the Mikhail phenomenon: At parties in Mumbai, people I’m with will suddenly start quoting my lines from the film. Somewhere else, back home or in an ordinary neighbourhood, the kids do the same thing. The character really has appealed to people across the board.

Upcoming projects: Mayur Puri’s Tell Me Oh Khuda with Esha Deol, and as director, a new run of theatrical production Chugaddham Symp-phoney, a multi-lingual adapatation of Bertolt Brecht’s The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny.

On life in Mumbai: It’s one of my top five cities in the world. I always want to come back here.

An actor’s inspiration: The public eye.

Artaud or Stanislavsky? Artaud. I don’t believe in Stanislavsky.
