Inspiration: My own work.

On art as a vocation: Art is what I do best. It’s l’art pour l’art for me all the way. I do not paint to be successful. I just dedicate myself to my work for the sheer joy of it

A day in the life: It is spent in the studio in the warm company of my paintbrushes. An artist’s work is never done. I am always thinking about my work even when not in the studio. But I also like to travel.

Art heroes: The late V.S. Gaitonde, Sudhir Patwardhan, Johan Pijnappel, Girish Shahane, Bose Krishnamachari, Atul Dodiya and Jitish Kallat.

One thing you want to change about the art industry: I think the industry needs to focus on young, lesser-known artists and tap into the wealth of their talent. People go too much by others’ opinions in this field, when the art should speak for itself.

Support system: I believe in myself. That is a lot of self-help.

Best concert memory: Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia in 1999 in a classroom, during college. It was magical.
