Behind The Scenes

It is possible to be skinnier than a ramp model.

I realise this astounding fact while tucking in and pinning a runway size dress on to Priyanka Chopra's petite but perfectly proportioned frame. She whizzes around the rehearsal hall, changing rooms and make-up floors of the Yash Raj Films studio, shod alternately in five-inch Louis Vuitton heels (‘barstool-like’ she pronounces them to be) or her more practical Chanel camellia slip-ons. Somehow, a diverse and disconnected crew of over 20 individuals – including pairs of models, make-up experts, hair artists, stylists, art editors and Verve aides come together to seamlessly coordinate their moves and cues in synergy with the cover girl, while our lone photographer, Vishesh Verma, essays the role of master orchestrator to perfection. PC rocks the mosaic mirrored floor (custom-made for the shoot), dancing merrily to the tunes of a selection of house music, constantly adding an energetic zing to every gracefully athletic step of hers. From start to finish, we witness the disco diva in her come alive!
