IN EARLY OCTOBER THE Victoria and Albert Museum, London opened their blockbuster exhibition Maharaja: The Splendour of India’s Royal Courts which brings together works of art from around the world to represent the culture of kingship and royal patronage in princely India. Among the lenders were six Indian royal families, members of which attended the glamorous opening party, attended by no fewer than one thousand guests! The exhibition was generated by Amin Jaffer of Christie’s and curated by Anna Jackson with research curator Deepika Ahlawat. “The glamorous party captured the magic and splendour of princely India,” stated Jaffer, reflectively.
