It all started when her parents took her to the tennis court at the Shivaji Park Gymkhana, placed a racquet in her hands and told her to go do her best. Radhika Milind Jadhav went on to win 10 gold, four silver and three bronze medals from the government of Maharashtra in addition to three golds from the Indian government, that she says “proved her talent.” Given her background – her dad is a hockey, football and karate champion while her mum is a kabaddi and carrom ace – it’s easy to see why Radhika is so passionate about sports. Currently juggling tennis and her studies, this S.Y.B.A student of Ruparel College, Mumbai, says she would like to be able to represent India in the Olympics and other international tournaments within the next five years. “I want to open a tennis academy for upcoming players who have the talent but lack financial resources in our country.” And Radhika wants to try her hand at the fashion game too. An avid fashion follower, she, like her idol Serena Williams, would love to do both, design as well as play tennis.
