Clean, light and minimalist, BLV Eau de Parfum II unfolds with luminous violet delicately blended with star anise and brightened by fresh frosty mandarin

Gentle, transparent, luminous pale blue are the words that come to mind as one opens a bottle of Bulgari’s BLV Eau de Parfum II. The new perfume from the house of Bulgari takes off from the original women’s perfume in an aquamarine hue with a breezy scent that’s evocative of an early summer run through a field of violets to the ocean.

Designed by perfumer Jacques Cavalier, BLV II is in keeping with the exquisite traditions of the house of Bulgari. Sotirio Bulgari’s passion for rare-coloured gemstones is well known and the house of Bulgari takes on this passion with a spirit of creativity and subtle artistry. Parisienne supermodel Laetitia Casta, the face of the campaign, is resplendent in a Sassi necklace combining pure gemstones of blue topaz, sapphires and rock crystals.

This is a softer rendition of the original BLV Eau de Parfum for women. As it is traditional to mark softer editions of perfumes with simple numerals, Bulgari has named this new edition BLV Eau de Parfum II. BLV II is lighter and contemporary – a pale aqua sparkle. The spherical stainless stopper with ‘Bulgari’ imprinted on it balances the angularity of the bottle.

Clean and light, the top notes of violets, mandarin orange, star anise and licorice take the perfume on a woodsy floral trail albeit in a transparent manner. Traces of iris, patchouli and vetiver take over as the middle notes and the base settles down to the subtlety of amber and musk. The freshness is minimalist modern.

BLV II is the second blue jewel from the BLV range. Subtle and glowing, it complements the modern woman beautifully. The noble elements of perfumery all combine to make a shimmering pale blue vision of a scent befitting the artisanal traditions of the great house of Bulgari.
