A towering lush green tree was vying for attention in the centre of a crowd of gorgeous models, designers and artists. The setting couldn’t have been more glam for Verve’s summer cocktail party to celebrate the success of the stunning Doha desert shoot in partnership with Qatar Airways. Flamboyante’s courtyard was accessorised with subdued electric-blue lights crowning Verve editions in the central arch. Fashion royalty were greeted by cameras as they made their way to the bar to enjoy chilled Tiger beer or some fabulous Vallée de Vin rose.

Verve’s editorial director Parmesh Shahani graced the stage for a few moments in his sassy rendition of Doha-style headgear to welcome the lively guests. Fashion moguls Narendra Kumar and Nachiket Barve conversed with IMG’s Vikram Raizada, while model Akanksha Nanda stole the show in a sublime flowing satin gold dress, perfectly finished off with exotic accessories. Also resplendent was Harshbeena Zaveri in a pink statement dress enhanced by an elegant set of alluring diamonds adorning her neck. Jeff Glekin and Simon Gammel talked all things British and Sheetal Gattani, Sharmistha Ray, Anupa Mehta and other members of Mumbai’s art community mingled happily.

Among this glam packed crowd, the PR women profiled in the May issue were spotted in full force. Model Amrit Maghera spent the evening basking in the limelight of the Zee Café cameras, while delicious wasabi rock corn, succulent murgh kebabs and pepper and basil potatoes did the rounds all night rousing taste buds. The cooling mango meringue nests provided a refreshing release from the summer heat. The fun continued into the night well past the closing hours with cheerful banter resonating from all corners. Later, model Raman Lamba and author-blogger Amitabh Nanda were seen (or rather heard) crooning a rather indecipherable ballad into the karaoke microphone. A night of unrivalled style and fun.
