Groom with a view
Try to carry travel-sized versions of your products as big bottles or jars could break and ensure you pack all products carefully with all the caps closed tightly to avoid anything spilling. “In fact, it’s a good idea to take products that can deliver two or more benefits which helps no end when traveling,” says Meeta Awatramani, training manager, Clarins, India. “Cleansing, toning and moisturising is a must for any kind of trip – whether holiday or business. Usually trips mean long days at the beach, by the pool or even day long seminars and meetings. So use a non-greasy sunscreen,” advises Cory Walia, make-up expert, Lakmé. Take along some refreshing wipes that will get rid of the dirt instantly. Carry eye drops to help reduce strain and clean when needed. “Both hot sun and cold weather can affect your skin. So use a good moisturiser and apply often if on a plane or on the road,” urges Mandeep Kaur, brand trainer, Elizabeth Arden. A good hand and feet cream as well as a night cream is important too, says Dr Raj Parikh, consultant – medical relations, Vichy Laboratories, India. Hair also needs to be well conditioned. “While travelling, don’t go to the first salon you find because your roots need colour. For healthy hair, I recommend the Bain Soleil shampoo, the Creme UV Defence Active treatment and the Serum Soleil Leave In conditioner from Kérastase,” recommends Rossano Ferretti, owner of the Metodo Rossano Ferretti Salon, Four Seasons Hotel, Mumbai.

Make-up mantras
Keep your make-up routine as simple as possible and use products that make you look fresh and gorgeous.
Base: While travelling, try to avoid wearing foundation. Instead use pressed/loose powder or even a tinted moisturiser. Use a concealer to hide dark circles. A blush adds instant freshness. “In fact, if you could match the shade of your blush, lip colour and your eye shadow, the result would be great! Like a peachy or nude lip colour looks good with a similar shade of blush. Apply the same blush slightly over your eyelids and it looks fabulous, suggests Walia.
Lips: Avoid dark lipsticks. Instead, wear neutral shades with a matching lip liner. Skip long-lasting lipsticks as they could dry out your lips. A balm, stain or gloss would work well.
Eyes: “Keep eyes looking as simple as possible. Apply neutral or light shades and pencil eyeliners. Avoid liquid eyeliners and dark mascara as it could trail down your face,” says Kaur.
Nails: Avoid brightly coloured nail polishes which may chip off leaving an unfinished look all too quickly.
