Hollow Roots

The roots of terrorism are hollow. And yet, terrorism as a phenomenon will probably never go away. The concept of terrorism is based on spreading violence and terror – and killing and terrorising innocent people is no solution to a serious problem or a sensitive issue.

The humiliation of being able to change almost nothing is very unsettling, especially after watching our politicians – and the way in which they have dealt with horrific terror acts – in so inhuman a way, for so long. They have exploited religion for their own political gains and now they are politicising terrorist activities.

The so-called superpower has invented the idea of a proxy war to sell their arms and warheads. Unfortunately for them and the entire world, they have created a lunatic monster called a ‘terrorist’, who can’t think straight, and he is in no state to listen. It is my humble request to the entire political establishment and to mankind: ‘Please do not think like an animal, please think before acting or reacting on these issues, God bless – not just US, but the entire world.’

Mumbai-based Sunil Padwal has a BFA in Applied Art from the JJ Inst. of Applied Art, and has been the recipient of many awards. His latest solo show, Myopia, was held in December 2008 at Jehangir Art Gallery, in which he contemporarises the timeless sense of frustration and despair and pent up anger.
