Akriti Kakkar’s singing is winning hearts and topping charts

She left hosting a television show thanks to the dozens of acting offers that came her way. But music is her driving force. “I don’t have the passion or inclination for anything else,” says Akriti Kakkar. The talented playback singer was a part of the Little Wonders group of music maestros Kalyanji-Anandji and performed at various venues during her school days. The singer landed in Mumbai and started her career with the remix version of Rangeela Re. Though she didn’t want to start her career with a remix, she admits it opened doors. Following her debut track Cham Se from Dus, Akriti hit the jackpot with Dil Vich Lagya Ve from Chup Chup Ke and the title song of Johnny Gaddar. The young singer, who reveres legends like R D Burman and Madan Mohan, has an impressive list of hit tracks from Kismat Konnection, Golmaal Returns, Kidnap, Hari Puttar and Freeze to her credit. She is currently working on her own album, which explores her versatility.
