Rimzim Dadu goes back to the future with her latest collection

A delicate mixture of simplicity and luxury, Rimzim Dadu’s designs capture the essence of femininity. This unassuming 22-year-old attributes her artistic eye to her upbringing. “My family is in the garment export business, so I have grown up with a fascination for fashion, textiles and colours.” The Pearl Academy alumnus has already displayed her collection at the Lakme Fashion Week 2008. The subtle tones complemented her bold patterns, exemplifying her unique ability to create truly global designs. She says, “I’m inspired by the imperfection around me. The texture of an old worn out wall or the innocence in a child’s broken-tooth smile.” She is currently working on her Spring/Summer 2009 collection for Lakme Fashion Week. “This collection is about geometry and structure. Ironic as it may sound, the collection has a futuristic feel to it since it travels back to basics in terms of structure, shape, form and colour.” With her elegant eye and straightforward attitude, here’s an exciting new designer to watch.
