VERVE and ART
Published: Volume 16, Issue 9, September, 2008

On a cloudy monsoon evening in Mumbai, Warehouse on 3rd Pasta opened its metal doors for a grand opening of Belgian artist Peter Buggenhout’s dust sculptures. Verve chatted with the artist, fellow Belgian curator Sophie Van Loo and gallery owner Abhay Maskara, while the other invitees (including artists Reena Kallat, Hema Upadhyay, Bose Krishnamachari and Sheetal Gattani, photographer David D’Souza and designer Krsna Mehta) discussed the sculptures over champagne flutes and hors d’oeuvres. Copies of Verve made their presence felt at the gallery entrance, along with catalogues of Buggenhout’s earlier exhibitions, and pamphlets describing the process and philosophy behind the work on display.
