Sitanshi Talati-Parikh leads the way

Art
Oil, acrylic and watercolours have been used to create a splash, in small format works, on display at the show, X, at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai – a group show with heavy-weights like Anjolie Ela Menon, Jayasri Burman, Paresh Maity, Sunil Padwal, and Satish Gujral. Previewing on July 21 at Hirji Gallery, Kala Ghoda, the show is on till July 30. Not to be left out of the running, Sakshi Gallery, Mumbai, puts together LINK, showcasing the works of Reji Arakkal, Sunil Gawde, Subodh Gupta, Zarina Hashmi, Anish Kapoor, Riyas Komu, Shibu Natesan, Mithu Sen, Sumedh Rajendran, Valay Shende and Chintan Upadhyay. The show is on till July 15. BlindStars StarsBlind at BodhiBerlin, displays Shilpa Gupta’s topical issues of religion, borders and territory in an expressive exhibit on until August 3. Sun: The Source of all Light and Life – Kolkata-based fine art photographer Subhashis Das’s work – is on view at the Piramal Gallery, Mumbai, from July 28 to Aug 6. Gallery Threshold, Delhi presents Mapping Memories 2 - Painted Travelogues of?Bali and Burma, which can be viewed between July 20 to Aug 6, including the works of Amit Ambalal, John Tun Sein, V. Ramesh, Jayshree Chakravarty and Gargi Raina.

Film lovers can browse through Seeing Is Believing - Selected Writings on Cinema a collection of essays by film critic and historian Chidananda Das Gupta, written over the last 60 years.

Screen
The silver screen is blazing this monsoon! Aamir Khan Productions features Aamir’s nephew Imran Khan in Jaane Tu… ya jaane na, a romantic musical comedy on screens July 4. Releasing simultaneously is Love Story 2050, the launch pad of Harman Baweja, also starring Priyanka Chopra – a futuristic love story with ‘special’ effects. Later that month, Mission Istanbul (think terrorism) finds Abhishek Bachchan sharing screen space with Vivek Oberoi, Zayed Khan and Sunil Shetty.
