Nimrat Kaur impresses with her stellar act in All About Women

Nimrat Kaur is ecstatic about winning the best actress accolade at Thespo, her first to date for her turn as the slick lawyer in Damages. Admittedly a little overwhelmed by the experience, she says she grew with it. Quite plausible given that she was really introduced to theatre just a year ago. Starting off with plays like Sunil Shanbag’s Mastana Rampuri, urf Chappan Churi, an adaptation of Bertolt Brecht’s The Threepenny Opera, she’s come a long way working with him. “His rehearsals are great learning experiences. It’s like going back to school,” she chuckles. But it’s her ensemble role in All About Women that has got tongues wagging. The play is “very bare, very basic about everyday feelings of love, jealousy, anger and possessiveness. It’s a slice of life.” And she got to share it with some of the best, young thespians around. With a few ad films in the works and reruns of her shows, we’re bound to see more of this newcomer soon.
