On June 27 another attempt at the magical pairing of Saif Ali Khan-Rani Mukerjee hits the screens, with Kunal Kohli’s Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic. Get international with Robert Lepage’s Canadian-British-French video film Le Confessional screening on June 19 and Slovenian cultural theorist Slavoj Zizek’s documentary film, Zizek! on June 20 both at NCPA’s Little Theatre, Mumbai.

 

 

Art
Explore Akbar Padamsee’s play with transparency, shadows and reflection in Sensitive Surfaces at the Galerie Hélène Lamarque, Paris on until June 28, describing the contrasts between darkness and light. Ranjani Shettar’s installations are on view at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, USA until July 13. Priti Kyal’s stream of consciousness monologue Ananda is on at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai from June 17 to June 22, where she attempts to create a sense of the peace that passes human understanding. Jitish Kallat presents Aquasaurus at the Haunch of Venison Gallery in Zurich on view until August 2. Do not miss the opening of Sundaram Tagore Gallery in Hong Kong with the exhibition East/ West on June 9 until June 14. A solo by Andrea Anastasio, Under the Same Roof previews on June 8 and is on until July 9 at GALLERY SKE, Bangalore. Bid & Hammer holds its second auction Modern & Contemporary Indian Art on June 15 at ITC Windsor Sheraton, Bangalore and the entire collection can be previewed from June 4. Christie’s sale of South Asian Modern and Contemporary Art takes places in London on June 11, featuring 112 works including artists like F. N. Souza and Tyeb Mehta.

Music
Feel the Italian strains with Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, playing at the Jamshed Bhabha Theatre, Mumbai, on June 24, also including works by Mozart, Vivaldi and Corelli.

Award
The prestigious Artes Mundi Prize (£40,000) has been awarded to Indian artist N. S. Harsha, ‘who has turned the Indian tradition of miniature painting into a form that enables him to mix the specific with the universal.’
