Get fashionably experimental with this month’s arresting stripes and Eastern influences...

Eastern INFLUENCES
You don’t have to make a trip to the Orient to indulge in its exotic style; Eastern fashion is here to stay. With influences from Chinese, Japanese and Korean dress, unique oriental elements added an interesting touch to many Indian and international collections. Those featured include obi style belts by Sonam Dubal, the traditional dragon and floral print by the famed Yohji Yamamoto, variations on the Mao collar by Balenciaga and Prada and wide kimono sleeves by Gayatri Khanna. Also present are more general aspects like intricate embroidery, bold patterns, raw silk and rich colours. Harem pants and kimono-inspired dresses make a surefire style statement which is hugely reminiscent of the customary Far East fashion influences.

Smart STRIPES
Go bold and colourful this summer, with the sassy, stylish stripes trend. Making a statement on countless runways that include Chanel, Ferretti, Anuj Sharma and Arjun Saluja, this popular style has been seen in a number of eye-catching variations. With stripes for everyone, take your pick from smartly tailored pinstriped suits and high-waisted pencil skirts, to Boho-chic striped waistcoats, shorts and oversized T-shirts. A simple yet striking look is the cool stripy tunics and T-shirt dresses paired with high heels and wide-leg trousers. If striped ensembles seem too overpowering then there are always the accessories to lure you in. From skinny scarves and designer caps to quirky tights and vintage bags, there are plenty of fashionable stripes to choose from.
