When model Mia Uyeda shifted to Mumbai from Canada last year, she never thought she’d end up staying on for more than a couple of months. But with modelling assignments, appearances in videos, shooting for the Kingfisher calendar and being snapped up by MTV to host her own show, she doesn’t plan to head back anytime soon. “When I first got here, I didn’t intend to stick on. Things have started working out and now I’m here to stay. The adjustment hasn’t been hard at all; it’s been my best decision so far. I love India... the colours, the smell… the men!” she laughs. A big fan of Himesh Reshammiya and Kailash Kher, Mia is completely in love with their music. In fact, she shot for a Himesh video in Switzerland. This foodie loves her sushi, Italian dishes and street fare. With the new trend of models from across the globe making Mumbai their home, Mia says it’s “letting your attitude be your style and not vice versa” that makes you stand out in a bevy of gorgeous faces.
