Sa Re Ga Ma favourite Mauli is back for more

When your family’s musical legacy rivals the Von Trapp family, you know you have a good thing going. Mauli Dave confesses that her grandparents influenced her and her bapu tried to teach her to sing even before she could talk. It was her mother who was her biggest influence, immersing her in classical dancing and singing at an early age. Back from her Sa Re Ga Ma Pa world tour, she’s still coming to terms with the fact that people recognise her. She credits this to her individuality. “I’ve never tried to imitate anybody even as an ideal. The songs I sing, I make my own.” Mauli’s anchoring this year while also recording regional songs in Bhojpuri and Nepalese. She feels India lacks complete entertainers like Beyonce and Britney Spears. While the complete performer in her emerges, we can look forward to her track in the film Love ka Tadka.
