Breguet’s finest watch to date pays homage to the iconic Marie Antoinette

If clothes make a man, surely accessories make a woman. Breguet’s newest offering, the Marie Antoinette Fleurs High Jewellery Watch has a certain je ne sais quoi that promises to help in that endeavour. This exquisite bijou, with a mother-of-pearl dial dipped in diamonds and set in an 18-carat white gold case bursts into a vivid orchid encrusted with blue and violet sapphires. With its pave-set, white gold, Reine de Naples case, it evokes the French Queen’s sunny, palatial gardens. The radiant shimmer of this exclusive timepiece, though, begs to be saved for a fashionable evening out.

It was over two centuries ago that Abraham-Louis Breguet first met Marie Antoinette. Fascinated by his unique self-winding watches, she commissioned one but never lived to see it completed. The masterpiece is now housed at the Islamic Museum in Jerusalem. Breguet has continued to pay homage to one of its earliest celebrity endorsers for the sake of those inclined to appreciate such antiquarian treasures. The Marie Antoinette Haute Joaillerie watch is for women who wear more than just their hearts on their sleeves.
