Sagarika Ghatge is starry-eyed about Bollywood

Basking in the glow of Chak De’s success, 20-year-old Sagarika Ghatge has already started make public appearances in her real-life avatar. “It’s an overwhelming feeling,” says the pretty lass who assayed Preeti Sabarwal on screen and was the last actress to be cast. Interestingly, her debut in Hindi movies happened by chance when someone in Yashraj Films ‘spotted’ her image on Face Book and called her for an audition. Sagarika says she wanted to be in the movies since childhood but deferred her debut because her father insisted that she graduate first. She got a go ahead from her father to star in Chak De only after he bumped into writer Jaideep Sahni in Pune. The former Mayo College student had great fun bonding with the other Chak De girls. “We had to work a lot on our playing. Some of us were actors, others players and we exchanged notes all along,” she says. The preparation was intense. “Early morning wake-up calls, lots of practice and I had to put on eight kilos to look like a player.” She knocked off most of the weight gain once the shooting wrapped up. What does she think about SRK aka Kabir Khan the coach? “Most helpful, most inspirational,” she gushes. Talks are afoot for more films. “I should be finalising something in the near future.” The picture like Sagarika is pretty!
