Victoria and Albert celebrates Manish Arora

He’s making fashion history with his quirky designs. London’s V&A museum recently celebrated the best of Manish Arora in a show titled ‘Fashion in Motion’. Arora was thrilled to be invited to show his creations at London’s prestigious venue which has earlier invited legends like Vivienne Westwood, Christian Lacroix, Ozwald Boateng and Jean Paul Gaultier. Tickets were sold out within hours and more than 400 people attended each show. The glitzy gathering included the who’s who of the Indian high commission and the Mayor’s office. London burlesque star Immodesty Blaize and designer Jacques Azagury added more glam to the event. The clothes were trademark Arora – bright colours and kitsch motifs using traditional Indian beading, appliques and embroideries. Beautifully stitched and depicting major city landmarks, the garments were worn with élan by supermodels like Olivia Inge, FerdoraIatskivajm and Lucy Morgan. His exquisite London and Delhi dresses inspired by the designer’s experiences of the two cities were the centre of buzz. Arora’s accessory and rug designs which tweak traditional motifs for a contemporary look has caught the eye of The Conran Shop. The designer will now create lifestyle pieces for the store.
