Former journalist, Bhavna Talwar, the debutant director of Dharm, has been nominated for the Gucci Group Award. This honour is bestowed on an internationally-acclaimed artiste who has made a remarkable contribution to a film within the past 18 months. Dharm, a story about a Hindu pundit whose beliefs are questioned by the arrival of a little boy, was earlier screened at the Cannes International Film Festival 2007. The movie, which released in June this year, has received rave reviews for its sensitive interpretation of religious fanaticism in India.
