‘Arts of the Buddha’, a unique auction based on works depicting and inspired by the Buddha will be held at Sotheby’s in New York on September 21. The highlight of this event will be the magnificent 13th century Tibetan gilt bronze Maitreya, one of the most important Himalayan works of art ever to be auctioned. This statuette is estimated to sell in excess of $3.5 million.
