Believing that ‘a photograph happens everywhere, you just have to see it’, 32-year-old Kaushik Chakravorty developed his ability to ‘see’ long before he knew that photography would be his profession. Shooting friends and family was a favourite pastime in his holidays. A relative gifted him an SLR, his first ‘real camera’ and the teenager fell in love. A physics graduate, he always finds a connection with his subjects and the composition. In this series shot in the ‘city of joy’, he immortalises the ubiquitous tana gaadis and rickshaw-wallahs that dot Kolkata’s lanes and by-lanes. The hand-pulled rickshaws that are but a hail away, have characterised the metropolis almost as much as rosogullas, coffee addas and the Howrah Bridge Are you a photographer with a fresh perspective on life? Do you have creative pictures that capture the essence of existence? Send in your compositions to art@verveonline.com. The best images will be featured in Framed.
