DEFINE STYLE: It's ultimately a great sense of comfort. If you can manage not to be terrorized by trends, a sense of style is your individuality. If you follow trends blindly and are not comfortable with yourself, even the latest designer wear will not appear 'happening'.

STYLE SECRESTS: My style is very classic. I believe solid colours and monotones are wonderful, if accentuated right with the right splash of a contrast colour. Tone down embellishments, and I think the world's biggest and best-kept secret is the sari.

ONE TIP THAT NEVER LETS YOU DOWN: A pair of custom-made skinny jeans, not designer label, but rather made by a tailor. They fit like second skin and I use them to test whether I'm a few kilos up or down. They are not some $500-700 fancy pair. What I do is take swatches home and match them with my footwear so that I can get the jeans made to coordinate with the footwear.

RATE YOUR STYLE QUOTIENT OUT OF 10: Oh, I can't do that. You'd need to ask my husband and children.

OBSESSIVE ABOUT: I'm thinking of bringing back to life my heirloom and wedding saris. I have a Sonam Dubal shirt I'd bought 4-5 years ago that I've been thinking of reviving.

WARDROBE IN A CAPSULE: Chiffon saris! Every woman must have one of every kind of sari, whether it's chanderi, benarasi, etc. One classic day business suit that fits well; one good every day black business trouser, and one classic salwar kameez - with the right cuts and necks. In Western, a few good jackets, well cut and fitted. I love front open shirts.

TRAVEL MUST-HAVES: Nothing really. These days we travel so often and for so many different occasions that we need to pack different things for each occasion.

STYLE DIFFERENTIATOR: The way I think and my attitude to fashion and clothes. Style is representative of your mind. It's the easiest way to reinvent yourself. If you feel 'I don't want to be this person today', then you can change the way you dress. It's not about dressing to follow a magazine trend, but about internalising style.

LIFE & STYLE: I'm very classic and basic in everything I do. I like order. If you've organised your closet, you can organise your life well too. I don't believe in wastage or in hoarding. I believe in good quality. I don't accept mediocrity and everything must have a high aesthetic value.
