POOJA BEDI: Television hostess, former actress
"Save me Sandokan, save me!" cried the damsel in distress. Father Kabir Bedi rushed to her aid instantly rescuing her from the evil gladiator's grip. The scene recently played out at the Spanish Steps in Rome when Pooja and Kabir Bedi were vacationing in Italy. A couple of men there were dressed as gladiators. When one of them grabbed Pooja and yelled something loudly in Spanish, she called out to her brawny dad. The crowd cheered on as the twosome put on quite a show at Rome's famous landmark. "There was magic in the air. Everywhere I turned, there was something new to be discovered," she reminisces. A travel tip from Pooja - get friendly with the locals. They know the best haunts and can take you to the most interesting places. "It's so wonderful to see how they keep an ancient tradition alive," she says of one such jaunt where she was led to the last factory that produces gondolas. A visit to the much-loved Trevi Fountain is a must. Two coins to return and fall in love. Three coins to return, fall in love and bear children. "I'm not telling how many I threw in," she laughs.
