A Frenchman crooning popular Hindi movie ditties, is, you have to agree, a bit of a curiosity. But Pascal Heni, 41, has perfected his pitch and accent as only the French can and renders remarkable imitations of Mohd Rafi and Kishore Kumar numbers, albeit with his own flamboyant flourishes. A complete hit with city audiences, Pascal, outfitted in glittering stage regalia, performed with uninhibited abandon at a select Mumbai gathering recently.Twenty years ago when his ear caught the "emotional" inflections of Hindi music in Colombo, he "discovered a new world of sound, music, energy, action". Last Hindi film seen was Bluff Master, and Pascal thinks ABjr "has a very good voice". Before he began to master Hindi vocals, there was Turkish, Swedish, German, Italian.... Next language? "Ah, Punjabi, I think!"
