An empowered group of creative women share their moments of angst and glory with each other and Nupur Mahajan Sinh, over champagne and soufflé, at an afternoon get-together without any agenda save themselves

We are sisters not sisters-in-law! Prerna is my in-house model and the one who does justice to my clothes. Also, she gives me an honest opinion on my work. - Surily Goel

On a crisp, yet sunny Monday noon, Verve took on board luxury cruise liner, Silver Seas, a handpicked group of power ladies. Each with a partner in arms: a daughter who has followed mum's footsteps right into her profession, sisters who run a thriving business, friends who share profits and even sisters-in-law who are nothing but best described as the antithesis of all that saas-bahu sagas project them to be! And we did more than break the myth that a woman is another woman's worst enemy! We managed to convert this group that stoically refrains from being clubbed into the 'ladies who lunch' stereotype, into ladies who having lunched, softened and agreed that lunch dates with a power theme aren't such a bad idea after all! The idea was not to get this powerful pack of ladies tipsy over the finest champagne and choicest wines over a lavish la-di-da lunch - and that too on a Monday! Nor was it anywhere on the agenda to get them aboard the luxurious Silver Seas and give them the rather risqué idea of being stowaways. Though not one voice of dissent was heard when it was mentioned that the cruise, having sailed in from Dubai, was now headed to Singapore via Goa and Phuket and they could just get left behind. Over the much appreciated dessert wine, the ladies did momentarily harbour the thought of being whisked off! And that only cemented the idea, the premise that no matter what the boob tube churns out, woman and woman is a great combo - one that is around aplenty. It was to celebrate this kinship, this rare, yet wonderful togetherness, that a clutch of like-minded power duos was brought together. Yes, they are power duos. While each of these ladies is a powerhouse of intellect, talent and creativity, they also bring to light a unique distinction. Despite being much acclaimed and sought after and being masters at their game, each shares that alluring hall of fame with another woman. Maybe a sister, or even a sister-in-law! Splitting profits, yet best friends. Non-pushy mums whose daughters have chosen to follow their lead. And when they all got together, all the twosomes, to celebrate this exemplary companionship, it was truly exhilarating.
