Forecast 2006 Spring-Summer
Published: Volume 14, Issue 1, January-February, 2006

Airy fabrics, definitive prints and delectable bows make for unusual partners in a feisty fashion arena, but this trendy trio will take you smoothly through the crisp spring months onto a sun-kissed summer!

Go for it: Priyanka Gandhi, Jesse Randhawa, Maithili Ahluwalia.

Collections: Anamika Khanna, Rajesh Singh Pratap, Donna Karan, Alberta Ferretti.

The Mathematical Phenomenon:
Go Geometric Look beyond the classic stripe and check towards a horizon of tone on tone gigantic polkas and printed layers of rectangular motifs. Dainty floral patterns have stepped aside to welcome a more dynamic geometric signature.

Styling Mantras

  • Allow your vivacious personality to pull off a multitude of shapes. A tobacco linen trench with overlapping cubes, a biscuit mul mini with varying sized spray painted squares and a netted Lycra disc printed churidar to finish.
  • Don't lose the feminine angle - rectangular cutouts on lace bordered smocks and see through shirts that allow a peek of bikini tops smattered with appliquéd triangles will neatly merge form and fad.
  • For a more simplistic but equally effective statement, choose accessories to mirror this look. Dolce & Gabbana's double circle sunglasses are one option, Ashish Soni's square sandals are another.
  • Summery add-ons can easily adapt to this catwalk craze; scour around for lightweight Chinese fans, printed canvas sneakers and billowing head scarves that sport a feel of geometric.
