Published: Volume 13, Issue 6, November-December, 2005

On October 13th, Singapore, the crown jewel of the Asia Pacific, rolled out the red carpet for an event that tugged at the heart - and purse strings of the hifalutin cognoscenti gathered within the hallowed environs of the Ritz Carlton's Grand Ballroom.

Anointed 'The Gift Of Tomorrow', the gala event was organised by a crusader in the fight against cancer, the Singapore-based Bone Marrow Donor Programme (BMDP), under the aegis of its president, Jane Prior, along with the enterprising Radhika Kothari.

The objective was to raise funds for more tissue typing of new donors and to spread community awareness and donor recruitment road shows to put forth the BMDP cause.

Satya Paul, the design house, known for its numerous affiliations with worthy causes walked the talk yet again.

The six-yard sari became the canvas for artistic expression as art took on haute form with Sri Lankan artist, Senaka Senanayake's vision coming alive on the ramp.
