Promoting Art By Design

Delhi-based trend-setters, Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna, showcase an intense passion for different strokes through their art gallery

Any fashionista worth her favourite taupe chiffon shirt knows about the creative genius behind the designer label, Cue. Yet, few know that designers, Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna – masterful duo of streamlined cuts and textured silhouettes – are equally dynamic when it comes to championing their other treasured cause – art. A five-year-old gallery, the Palette Art Gallery thrives atop their signature store in New Delhi’s posh Golf Links locality, where Rohit and Rahul have so far been “promoting younger artists, to create awareness among people about contemporary art. We select artists purely on instinct,” says Rohit, “but our current exhibition has been a work in progress for two years now. We decided to showcase past and present works of ten Indian masters, whose lives and vision have been documented by ten senior art historians for our catalogue. The response has been amazing, we’ve had art critics, collectors and gallery owners drop in to admire the display.”

Recently, from October 13 to November 4, bigwigs from the world of art –
M F Husain, Tyeb Mehta, Manjit Bawa, Jehangir Sabavala, S H Raza and K G Subramanyan – helped elicit awed admiration.
