Musician Gary Lawyer’s bubbly offspring, Lisa Lawyer, side-steps the world of music to woo the camera and work on the script of her pet project, an English film
At the moment, her creative nirvana lies in acting. Currently, she is busy scripting and acting in her first venture, an English film that she is co-producing with a friend. Clearly, the degrees earned within the hallowed institutes for histrionics, the Lee Strasberg School of Drama and the Larry Moss Studio, are not merely decorative wall hangings. Ask Gary Lawyer whether he felt a twinge of disappointment when his daughter side-stepped a career in music for the arc lights and he is quick to reply in the negative. “Lisa is a very talented singer, but it’s important that she follow her calling. Given the apathy that the music industry has towards Western music singers, I don’t want her to get into that kind of struggle.” And when not proving her mettle for theatrics, 26-year-old Lisa indulges her love for camera by modelling, which she eased into on her return from the States, when she was snapped up by Elite Model Management. Gauri Kelkar Pink strapless off-white lace skirt, by Manjiri; pearl strings, by Santosh. All at You, Mumbai.
