London buzzes to a kinetic energy at night, states Nisha Paul, who reviews two of the city’s most immoderate clubs
This nocturnal landmark is excitingly poised to reinvigorate London’s boom time with a vengeance. The message is: ‘conspicuous consumption is back in style’. This is also the place to run into genuine A-list celebs. Sammy Chams (well known for the Baoli club in Cannes) has designed this huge nocturnal Soho playground using raw brick arches, gothic hanging black candelabras and secret alcoves. Part of the up-beat scenario are the scantily-clad, long-limbed 18-year-olds, who at the pumping of hip hop music, instantly begin gyrating on the dance floor, eager to be part of the readily-imbibing, Champagne crowd. Signature zingers: Burlesque Rendezvous, is a short fruity number made from premiere canne rum, lychees, créme de mure, mango puree and guarana. Guaranteed to pep!
Bump into: Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Mickey Rourke, Christian Slater, Naomi Campbell, Will Smith, Orlando Bloom and Scarlett Johansson. Address: 8-9 Argyll Street, London W1. Telephone: +442077345776. For complete story, subscribe to Verve Magazine or buy the Verve issue on stands now! |
