Actor, Parvin Dabas, showcases his new found passion for marine life with India’s first ever underwater photography exhibition, A New World.

He was last seen playing the groom of every girl’s fantasy to Vasundhara Das’ confused and impetuous bride in the crossover flick, Monsoon Wedding. A surprising four-year gap later, Parvin Dabas has resurfaced in an unexpected avatar. Diving deep to his destiny, he recently emerged with India’s first ever underwater photography exhibition, A New World. Privy to the secret world of a stunning array of marine life – from beautifully formed corals and exotic sea creatures – Dabas captured them on film for landlubbers to gush about.

So, does this mean farewell to his celluloid dreams? “Not at all. Movies will always remain my first love. For me, films feed photography. I have developed the habit of carrying my camera with me and capturing anything that catches my eye whenever I travel for a shoot.” Which leads us to the next obvious query; whether his exile from the big screen was self-imposed. “Chalk it down to bad decisions and equally bad advice. Now, I have a few good films on hand; there is Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Maara, two international projects, The Memsahib and The Curse Of King Tut’s Tomb.” Until then, there is always the vast expanse of underwater life waiting to woo his lens.
