Singapore played host to yet another Indian designer, Deepika Gehani, the haute haunt for the stylish set, as she flew the Indian flag high at the favourite destination for the rich and famous. Models took to the ramp for a worthy cause at this charity event organised by the Chinese Women’s Association. A collection inspired by the ocean, Ocean Breeze, was all shapely silhouettes and feminine elegance. Paying homage to the ocean in all its elemental glory, the shades of colour used ranged from the foamy whites to clear blues and sparkling greens. International models, draped in the sartorial ode to the ocean, were the cynosure of all eyes as the gathered chiffons and sheer georgettes simulated the ebb and flow of tides, the overall effect that of the various facets of the ocean merging in a harmonious whole. A fulfilling evening that saw its share of shimmer… even as the fashion show raised a commendable 100,000 dollars.
