The colours – black, white and grey. The textures – linen, cotton and silk. The look – classic and structured. Sibling designer duo Ashish and Smita Soni, recent entrants to the upcoming New York Fashion Week, transform the effervescent Perizaad Zorabian’s sporty, New Age style to one of sleek vintage charm

PerizaadSpeak

The perky Parsi, seen in crossover films like Bollywood Calling, Joggers’ Park and Morning Raga and former ambassadress for a leading diamond brand, chats about movies, makeovers and her favourite style icon.

I don’t consider myself stylish or trendy. I’m not brand conscious either. Simplicity, comfort and wearability are most important. My style is very basic, not grown up enough – which is why I love Gap and Banana Republic. My perpetual complaint is that I never have anything to wear when I do need to dress up. Sangeeta Jasnani from Kaysons almost always comes to the rescue with her beautifully designed saris and Gavin Miguel is my saviour with his clean-cut, western formals. Would you believe, I only possess one evening bag, in black!

The way Verve has styled me is clean, simple and so international. Not typically me, but, at the same time an extension of how I could be. The comfort level is all there, and the jewels are so Perizaad. I especially like Ashish Soni’s black skirt-dress and the tiny black jacket.

Gluttony is my only sin! I am a total foodie. I live to eat. My father always wants to kill me when I say this (he owns a poultry farm), but I’m not a chicken person at all. I prefer fish and red meats. Although, now that part of me wants to become fit and healthy, I am trying to shift to more white meats and convert to chicken, maybe even become vegetarian eventually.
