Based on M M Kaye's celebrated novel, the musical extravaganza, The Far Pavilions, took a dramatic turn last month with a glittering opening at London's Shaftesbury Theatre. After the last notes died down and the curtains swirled down to enthusiastic aplause, the celeb-studded audience adjourned to La Port des Indes to raise a toast and share nostalgic nuggets about the Raj.
