Award-winning, British-Asian actor, Archie Punjabi, on broadening her horizons and sharing her eastern values with the west

I was…"born in and grew up in London. I visited Mumbai often, and studied there for a few years, when my parents moved to Nigeria for business reasons."

It all began... "after East Is East, when my work was well received. I was then approached for Bend It Like Beckham, which was a great experience."

Recently at the Berlin Film Festival..."I received the Shooting Star Award 2005 for a film called Yasmin, about a British-Muslim girl in the post-September 11 era. To play the lead role was a dream come true."

I am inspired..."by Amitabh Bachchan, who is very composed and grounded despite having been a superstar for so many decades.
