Seema Khan’s Spring 2005 Collection

“I cater to the stylish woman.” True to her words, Designer Seema Khan’s showcase of her trendy spring collection proved to be a huge success as celebrities, friends and the famous Bollywood Salim Khan family came to see her unique designs. Among Seema’s celebrity clientele Gauri Khan, Neelam Kothari and Malaika Arora Khan were present. Farah Khan, Amrita Arora, Maheep Kapoor, Manish Malhotra and Surily Goel were a few of the other famous faces among the audience at the Taj Lands End hotel in Mumbai. 

True to her personality Seema Khan’s inspiration shows through as a perfect blend of east and west trends meeting bollywood glamour in between. For her spring collection, she lays emphasis on floral prints and flowing, shaded chiffon blouses. Using vivid colours like blue, pink, red and green, Seema coupled the blouses with jeans to create a casual Indo-Western look. The trés chic Empire waistlines and embellished necklines were the trademark of the hip blouses and dresses. The Indian collection sizzled on the ramp as well- heavily sequined and embroidered saris in a rich hue of colours dazzled the audience. Seema also gave great attention to the embroidery and draping of the saris. The highlight of Seema’s collection was the peach sari embellished with sequins and kashyab work worn by Dia Mirza on the ramp.

Seema Khan characterizes her work as being original, versatile and wearable. She states “My designs are all reflections of my mood and personality.” Indeed, adorned with bone beads, shells and coral with special detail to embroidery and gota work, Seema’s collection reveals the creative and innovative side of the designer. Currently, not only is she supplying to the designer store Oak Tree in Mumbai, one can also find her stuff at Ananya, Bandra and Ensemble, Lions Gate Colaba (Bombay and New Delhi). Seema also created Jassi’s new look when the star from the popular show, Jassi Jaise Koi Nahi had a makeover. For all those interested in the latest and most chic in fashion wear today, Seema lets us in on her personal style, “My personal favorite is the long tube top which I find very elegant at the same time sexy.” As for her flowing chiffon blouses, Seema advises, “You could team it with a stole and three quarter pants or wear it with jeans and accessorise the ensemble with Indian jewellery for a touch of glamour!”
