A store that boasts an eclectic and elegant range of furniture, Palate opened to much appreciation from those with a taste for excellence. Sprawled over 6000 square feet of understated sophistication, the store has given a glamorous spin to the creative talents of the tribes from northeastern India, with a variegated range of products handcrafted by these artists hitherto lounging in obscurity. The brains behind Palate belong to the triumvirate of Malini Akerker, Anuradha Singhania and Ali Mamaji who each bring their own brand of style to this boutique that not only houses indigenous expertise but also merchandise from Phillipines, Thailand and Burma.
Another highlight is the diverse fabrics on offer, apart from the home furnishings and artefacts, that garb the store in diverse shades of contemporary, modern design.
A rarely seen hands-on approach that follows the mantra of the customer being king, makes the clientele feel pampered. A crew of experts, appropriately anointed The Palate Design Team, weaves amongst the milling crowd, dishing out advice and ideas.
The opening saw the Mumbai cognoscenti descend on Mahalaxmi, the location of the spanking new store and satisfy their desire for some lip-smacking goodies with the admirably sumptuous spread on display. |
