A championship hosted by the near perfect automobile that races into car fanatics' fantasies with each new model, Mercedes Benz, that prized possession of Daimler Chrysler, will undoubtedly be cutting-edge, brimming with sporting competition.

The Mercedes trophy 2005 golf finals, played out on the sylvan greens of the Pune Golf Course, saw the three winners of Categories A, B and C make swishy swings and perfect putts on their way to securing the trophy. They will now represent India at the World Finals to be held in September in Stuttgart, the birth place of the car. The tournament is an exclusive one for all Mercedes Benz owners, who changed gears and traded in the thrill of speed and smooth driving with the delicate accuracy of the golf putts.

Their fifth year in India, the championships saw the participation of over 600 Mercedes owners, that boasted of the luxury equals of the very coveted automobile with Swiss International Airlines, Montblanc and Taylormade, joining the fray of co-sponsoring the gifts for the winners. An event that started more than a decade past, it has been gathering speed and at the same time, bringing the car into the consciousness of car agnostics and cement a base for strong customer relations. A venture whose success has been proved with a present number of participants reading at 53,000 from over 40 countries.

The evening of the tournament endowed the championships with the glittering fashion element as Anita Dongre creations were the focus of attention at the Corinthian Club where the gathered glitterati enjoyed the ensembles on display after the sporty style of the golfers vying for the championships.
