Help Verve help Akanksha in the wake of the devastating tsunami that has brought life to a grinding halt in the affected regions.

This is an urgent appeal for help in the aftermath of the tsunami induced quake in parts of South India and neighbouring countries.
Akanksha, along with Goonj, an NGO that has set up a base in the South, has initiated a major relief campaign, 'Rahat-Quake', in this moment of crisis to mobilise help for the affected areas.

Support is required in the following areas:

  • MATERIAL
    • Medicines: anti-diarrhoea, anti-inflammatory, paracetamols, antibiotics, chlorine tablets, disinfectants
    • Stationery/Education Aids: Notebooks, pencils, etc
    • Dry Rations: biscuits, rice, wheat, pulses, sugar, milk powder, cooking oil, etc
    • Building materials: plastic sheets, tarpaulins, plastic buckets, etc
    • Clothes: bed sheets, blankets, children's clothes
    • Household items: utensils, stoves, torches and batteries
      PLEASE ENSURE THAT THE MATERIAL SENT IS WELL-PACKED AND LABELLED TO ENABLE EASY SORTING AND PACKING
  • VOLUNTEERS are required for creating awareness, organising collection camps, sorting and packing. If you wish to volunteer, send us an email at shaheen@vsnl.com
  • FINANCIAL SUPPORT- from institutions and individuals for the purpose of communication, collection stamps, storage, sorting, packing, travel, transportation and local distribution expenses.

    43 collection centres, in people's home and office where anyone can walk in and leave relief material, have been set up for donations. Donors can contact the Akanksha foundation at 23700253/23729880, or log on to www.akanksha.org for information about the locations of the centres.
