TINA TAHILIANI PARIKH
Minimal, comfortable and elegant. These three words sum up the consummate style of Tina Tahiliani Parikh, executive director, Ensemble. Although constantly within the ringside view of happening fashion, Tahiliani is a simple dresser, adapting her discreet style to current trends.
Less is more and the fit is vital. A beautiful cut takes priority and designer tags are inconsequential. (Unless it comes to brother Taruns creations!) Admittedly into basic hues like black, white and beige, she has developed an affinity for the summer tones of red, fuchsia and orange, colours that go together ideally with her skin tone. Weve noticed her experimenting more with colour for evening dos more often than not in a glamorous sari.
Tahiliani fits into the slot of a complete natural. No make-up, barely there embroidery, standard knits, crisp cottons and linens and most importantly, no affectations. I believe in being who you are, she states emphatically. Her fashion formula is all about how you put things together, which is reflected in her style informal trousers and shirt, brought to life with an exceptional, jewelled belt, or, a sari with an unusually draped blouse and Art-Deco earrings. When in western wear, weve caught the tasteful entrepreneur sporting wonderfully unusual bags, adding a touch of unpredictability to her casual style. We always keep an eye out for her latest eye-catching handbag or impressive tote. A soft spot for trinkets and baubles accounts for most of her shopping jaunts and the city of Milan is a permanent favourite.
While she prefers feminine silhouettes and fabrics, the willowy workaholic is also an avid collector of fundamental wardrobe element the white shirt. I never stop buying them! she confesses. She seamlessly sticks to her philosophy of wearing basic yet well-tailored outfits and manages to add a touch of glamour with simply her poise.
As an important member of the fashion industry, its impossible for Tahiliani to ignore seasonal fads but, on the whole, this businesswoman takes an uncomplicated fashion stance with apparent ease.
Memorable Moment She was refreshing in an orange, aqua and magenta, hand-painted chiffon sari from Tarun Tahilianis couture. Garnished with beads and sequins, the sari was unusually draped and looked great with an embroidered Lycra blouse. Its all in the family!
