Festa Italiana’s Lombardia gave Mumbai a whiff of northern Italy with a dinner cum fashion fiesta, hosted by the Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Olive Bar and Kitchen, in association with Verve. Guiseppe (Beppe) Modenese, the high priest of Italian fashion, made a gracious appearance, with the fashion world queuing up for a handshake. Verve’s cover girl, Urmila Matondkar, currently on a high with power performances in Pinjar and Tehzeeb, was the focus of a camera scramble, even as our own sultry models, twirled in the Spring-Summer 2004 collections of Versace, Dolce and Gabbana, Prada, Gucci and Gianfranco Ferre. The fashion fraternity networked, guests dug into the region’s speciality fare and television crews followed party animals for quotable quotes.
