From Delhi to Chicago and back, its been one rib-tickling ride for funny man, Vir Das
"I was a talker, when I was a kid, I could have sold you on anything," he says. While studying theatre in the US, he started out at the bottom, performing in small clubs. Even having his routine unceremoniously interrupted by a drink that was hurled at him from the audience didnt do any damage to his funny bone. With his risqué, "strictly for adults only" brand of humour, Vir has an otherwise conservative Delhi audience rolling in the aisles. Hilarious accents and jabs at everybody from Bill Clinton to Sonia Gandhi, everyone is sent home with an ache in their sides. Vir knows how to work a crowd and during his non-stop hour and a half on stage, he shoots one-liners with the marksmanship of a true professional. With plans to bring his show on the road, and to perform in Mumbai, Goa and various other cities, this little man has big plans. Having it all stand-up comedy success, a BA in theatre, and a stint as the lead singer of a rock band Bollywood must be calling! |
