SILHOUETTE – SNUG BOTTOMS

Snug silhouettes and ‘painted on’ pants take centre stage. Grab a pair of curve flattering tights and do away with the ubiquitous combat trousers and thigh pockets. If you’ve got the curves, wear your pants like a second skin – it’s time for your legs to steal the show.

How to: Couple snug pants or leggings with fitted blouses, turtlenecks or flowing tops. Opt for your own version of the churidar – wear a long kurti over a pair of your narrowest pants gathered at the hem. In keeping with the leg warmer trend, you could add gaiters made from light fabrics, instead of ruching your pants. Liven up classic black and white with op art or graphic prints. Zebra print leggings coupled with a billowing top gathered at the waist will definitely give you a leg up the fashion ladder. Go for bright colours. Yellow, aqua blue, red, or metallic hues. Opaque tights in a light shade of plum, worn under a black sheath dress, display the perfect cross between girlish fun and womanly sophistication. It also works wonderfully to hide heavy hips and thighs. Check out Manish Arora's hot pink tights! Tired of block coloured bottoms? Switch to prints. They look sassy and use illusion to hide too skinny legs. Lehariya leggings or tie and dye tights – when worn under knee length or mini skirts -- catch the eye. Experiment with lace, chiffon, silk or khadi. We're not pulling your leg when we say that this is the hottest trend this season!

When to: You can easily carry off this look during day as well as at night. Eighties style, shoulder-popping jersey blouses are casual, yet high fashion at the same time and look très chic with a pair of sleek leggings. You would look just as great at the opening of a new restaurant or in the front row of a fashion show.
