One of the newest entrants into the model-turned-actor brat pack is John Abraham. This MBA was previously a media planner and plays his cards well. He won a model search contest and, in the same year, was signed up as the face of Provogue. “I understand both sides of the game,” says Abraham. “Which is why I am very careful about the campaigns I sign.” And more so with his films. His debut in Jism, a film that garnered more attention for co-star and girlfriend Bipasha Basu, was well received and he has just finished shooting for Saaya.

Provogue? I was the Provogue model just before Fardeen Khan and Hrithik Roshan. At the time, I was a bit worried about over-exposure but it worked well. Both Provogue and I were new on the market and we grew together.

Brand endorsements? There has been no time for modelling since I joined films. If I were to sign up for a campaign now, it would be as an actor and not as a model. Anyway, actors endorse most of the major brands today.

Live shows? I loved doing ramp; the whole live element gives you a great buzz. But so far, I have not done any live shows – I am just a movie old. But I would love to, since it is great to get an immediate response.

Film ishtyle? On the ramp, one wore both practical and impractical clothes. I feel film fashion is more practical. There is no such thing as a filmi look, anymore

Film stylists? Unlike many others, I do not stick to one stylist. For Jism, I worked with two newcomers, Pooja and Priya. They were raring to go and gave me the right look. Saaya is being styled by designers, Rocky S and Anna Singh. I like working with different designers as each designer has his own forte.

Real style? I live in linen and cotton. Colour-wise, I like earthy tones and khaki. I am a light dresser and am most comfortable in pyjamas and a kurta-style shirt.

Accessories? I prefer not to wear any accessories. Actually, there was a time, when I wore a fish-bone around my neck. But I never wear a watch or carry a wallet. As for shoes, I live in Diesel floaters.

Hair? I am still amazed by how much people comment on my locks. It was not a conscious decision to keep my hair long but it has become my trademark. I am cutting my hair though for my role in Pooja Bhatt’s directorial debut, Paap.

Amitabh Bachchan? Vikram Bhatt’s Aitbaar stars Bipasha Basu, Amitabh Bachchan and myself. Working with such a legend is really an experience. I know it sounds like a cliché but he is in a league of his own. He has amazing style, charisma and presence. He just stands out.
